Estimated total:$249for one door with new rollers

Worked examples

  • One patio door, inland, heavy to slide: new tandem rollers, track cleaned, door re-hung and adjusted, from $249. About an hour.
  • Two doors in the same house: from $249 for the first and $199 for the second, about $448 total, done in one visit.
  • Coastal door with a pitted track: stainless rollers from $349 plus a stainless track cap from $199, about $548.
  • Door will not lock: if the panel has dropped, an adjustment from $129 usually lines the hook back up with the keeper. If the mortise lock is worn, a lock and handle set from $149.
  • Screen door off its track with torn mesh: new rollers and re-track from $89, or a new screen door installed from $179.

What changes the price

  • Door count. The first door carries the full rate; every additional door on the same visit is the lower rate.
  • Roller type. Standard steel ball-bearing rollers are the base rate. Stainless rollers for coastal homes cost more and last far longer in salt air.
  • Track condition. A worn track gets a stainless cap in the same visit. We only recommend it when you can feel the groove.
  • Door weight and type. Oversized panels, multi-slide, lift-slide and pocket doors use specialized hardware and are quoted after a photo or a visit.
  • Glass. An insulated glass unit is ordered to measure. We quote it after measuring and never from a photo.
  • Timing. No premium during normal hours (Mon to Sat 7am to 6pm).

Not sure which you need? Repair or replace a sliding glass door walks through it, and what roller replacement costs in San Diego covers the market, not just our prices.

Licensing, plainly

Roller, track, adjustment, screen and weatherstrip repairs are minor work under $1,000 in labor and materials, which California does not require a contractor license for (Business and Professions Code section 7048). We stay inside that line and tell you when a job needs a licensed contractor instead.

Pricing questions

Is there a trip fee or service call charge?

Not when we do a repair. If you only want a diagnosis and decide not to proceed, the visit is $79, and that amount is waived the moment we do any work on the door. There is no fuel fee, after-hours multiplier or per-mile charge anywhere in San Diego County.

Why do some ads show "$89 roller repair"?

Those prices are usually labor only, for one roller, with the parts, the second roller and the panel removal added once the technician arrives. Ask any company for the total price for your door, parts included, before booking. Ours is on this page and we put it in writing by text.

Do I need stainless rollers?

Within about a mile of the coast, yes: salt air pits plain steel wheels and the door starts dragging again within a few years. Inland, standard steel ball-bearing rollers last for a long time. Stainless rollers start at $349 per door and we tell you honestly which your home needs.

What if the track is worn too?

A worn or pitted aluminum track chews through new rollers early. The fix is a snap-on stainless steel track cap from $199, fitted in the same visit. We check the track with every roller job and only recommend the cap when you can feel the groove.

How does pricing work for several units or a whole building?

Landlords and property managers with more than one door on the same visit pay the first-door rate once and the additional-door rate for the rest, quoted as one written total before the visit. Send us the unit count and a photo of a typical door for the number.
